Dr. Tamela Martin was born in Orange, CA. After she graduated Valedictorian of her high school, she attended U.C. Berkeley (CA) for her Undergraduate degree in Human Physiology & Anatomy. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in just 3 years, while receiving the Phi Beta Kappa award for Physiology. She was granted early acceptance to U.C. San Francisco Medical school, where she continued her neuroanatomy & ocular research. After completing her Transitional internship, she took 1 year off to work as a family practitioner (to gain experience in internal medicine that she felt would be useful for her career in Ophthalmology). She attended Stanford University Hospital for her Ophthalmology/Surgical Residency, where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Martin has opened two separate certified Ambulatory Surgery Centers. She has successfully opened, run and sold her two private practices in CA. She took Level 1 Ophthalmic trauma call for the 29 Palms Marine Base and two major Desert Hospitals for 14 years. She served as Chief of Ophthalmology for Eisenhower Medical and was instrumental in opening the Eisenhower Outpatient Eye Surgical services (and serving as the Primary Ophthalmologist). She has two patents- 1 device and 1 intellectual patent.

After practicing in CA her entire career, she relocated to Alabama, to be near her father and for balance of life and family. After practicing surgical ophthalmology until 2022, she then transitioned back into Facial Aesthetics. She is the Medical Director of a Med-spa, serves as a consultant for Specialty Telemedicine and desires to use her experience and knowledge to better serve the industry and healthcare. Dr. Martin is married, with 3 children and one grandson. She believes “each patient is unique” and prefers to customize aesthetic treatments.
